Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry, gave birth to a boy today.
The couple’s first child weighed seven pounds, three ounces at birth, Buckingham Palace said. He’s the Queen’s eighth great-grandchild and seventh in line to the throne.
Harry, 34, was at the birth, and Meghan, 37, and their son are both doing well, a statement from the palace said.
In announcing the birth to reporters, Harry said he’s “absolutely to die for.”
The couple married at Windsor Castle in the English county of Berkshire last year. They have moved into nearby Frogmore Cottage, a royal residence on the grounds where they held their wedding reception.
Journalists and well-wishers have been camped out for days in Windsor, about 35 kilometres west of London.
